Karl Calhoun Jr.
Head Coach - Defensive Coordinator
Karl Calhoun Jr., is a native of Sanford, Florida, and he is an alum of Seminole High School. He was a three sport varsity athlete while attending Seminole High School. After graduating from Seminole, he accepted a scholarship to continue his academic and athletic career at Virginia Union University. He was a four year starter, and earned several awards while playing. He is a member of the Virginia Union University Football program All-Decades team as a Middle Linebacker. He received his bachelors degree in Mass Communications in May of 2017.Â
Calhoun began his coaching career in 2018 at Huguenot High School in Richmond, Virginia. In 2019, as the Defensive Coordinator, he was able to help the Huguenot Football Program achieve it's first winning season since 2006. Calhoun returned home to Seminole to join the coaching staff in 2021 as the CO-DC and linebackers coach. In 2022, Calhoun became the Defensive Coordinator. In that season, the defense was able to hold six opponents to 10 points or less. In March of 2023, Calhoun became just the second alum to become Head Football Coach at Seminole High School.
In his first season as Head Coach, Seminole was able to capture the class 4M District 2 Championship, Seminole Athletic Conference Championship, 10 wins, Regional Championship appearance, and Seminole Athletic Conference Coach Of The Year.Â
Calhoun is dedicated not only to the success on the field, but the success of the players off the field. This includes the classroom, community, and ultimately in life. His extreme efforts to focus on character, discipline, accountability, and academics have revamped the purpose, feeling, and morale of the football program for the betterment of all student-athletes involved.Â
